Phase Two: In-Person Intensive

April 19 — 21 2024 | Whitehorse, Yukon

Phase Two of the Launchpad is a 3 day (24 hours) in-person intensive that digs deeper into intimacy choreography, case studies, and kit practices.

*This cohort is a private community workshop made possible with the generous support of Gwaandak Theatre, the Government of Yukon’s Cultural Industries Training Fund, and The Guild Hall. Phase One is waived as a pre-requisite, though future enrolment highly encouraged.

Phase Two: Launchpad In-Person Intensive
April 19 — 21 2024 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Topics Phase Two covers:

  • Physical positions and vocals/breath work for stage and screen

    • Students will be rotating as directors, Intimacy Professionals, and actors for choreography work. Students will be given an opportunity to clarify their boundaries and work within them.

  • Modesty wear review and application (on dummies)

  • Masking and barriers

  • Roleplaying conversations with actors/directors/producers

  • Mental Health First Aid applications

  • and more!

  • This workshop has been funded by the Government of Yukon’s Cultural Industries Training Fund and hosted by Gwaandak Theatre.

Additional Information:

  • Applicants will need to bring gym/yoga clothing (no jeans or shorts), a lunch, and a water bottle

    • Knee pads and a yoga mat recommended

  • Venue: The Guild Hall

  • Maximum of 25 students. This cohort is specifically for artists local to Whitehorse and/or hosted by Gwaandak Theatre.

Our program is accredited by SAG-AFTRA, meaning our curriculum has been reviewed and approved based on SAG-AFTRA’s accreditation requirements. A syllabus will be shared with all participants before their Phase Two cohort starts.

Application Requirements

  • Upload your application materials to the Launchpad File Upload Form:

    • A cover letter (2 pages max) or a video/audio clip (3 mins max) describing who you are and how you’re planning on implementing the training in your work (if applicable).

      • For returning students, you do not need to resubmit a cover letter.

    • An updated PDF of your CV/resume that includes any relevant work experience and training.

      • For return students, it is optional to upload an updated CV.

      • NOTE: This specific Phase Two cohort will be designed for folks who have not had extensive prior training who are looking to integrate best practices into their work as an artist.

        • If you are hoping to qualify or certify as an Intimacy Professional following the completion of this cohort, you will need to complete Phase One, and provide proof Mental Health First Aid certification/enrolment as well as EDI/anti-racism, conflict resolution/mediation, sexual orientation/gender identity, and bystander intervention training obtained within the last five years as per SAG-AFTRA’s qualifications for ICs and PIP’s Phase One application requirements.

    • A signed NDA for this cohort.

  • Submit your 1-2 reference letters; alternatively, applicants can forward the Launchpad Third Party Reference Form to their references to complete. Return students who have submitted this do not need to resubmit.
